Info about Commissions
Affiliate Programs/Commissions overview, information, summary
Affiliate programs also known as associate programs, are types of business arrangements where the owner of a website will pay the affiliate websites a commission, in order to bring more traffic to their website to boost profits. This works by the affiliate programs providing links and ads to get the attention of potential customers to go to their sites; therefore helping the merchant site have more traffic flow and becoming a more popular website. The affiliate programs will only get commission according to the number of people the affiliate sends to the merchant’s site. On affiliate programs, they will advertise the merchant's site, by creating a banner so it will be viewable on the affiliate site. Some arrangements dealing with affiliate programs will pay according to the number of people the affiliate will send to the merchant's site by the banner advertisement. The affiliate program acts as the merchant's site marketing strategy. This is a good collaboration when trying to market a merchant's web site because when a merchant's web site is first created, they need as much buzz as possible in order to receive the attention and recognition they need to succeed. If the affiliate can bring more customers to the merchant's website by allowing them to click on a link that will be the way the affiliate makes their profits, by increasing traffic flow.
There are four types of affiliate program payment arrangements that are payed by pay per sale, pay per view, pay per click, and pay per lead. Pay per sale is when the merchant site will pay the associated affiliate site for bringing a customer towards them that actually purchases something. For pay per click, the merchant site will only pay the affiliate for the number of visitors that clicked on the link or advertisement banner to visit their website. With pay per lead, the merchant sites will pay affiliates only based on the number of people who sign up as leads. Leads refer to visitors who fill out some required information at the merchant site. The merchant who owns the site will then use that information obtained from that visitor to use as a sales lead, or, if they choose, to a company. Lastly, with pay per view, the companies that operate these programs are called pay per view programs. Pay per view programs pay their associated affiliates by the number of people who actually sees the banner or ad, telling potential customers to go to the merchant's sites.
When it comes to advertising, affiliate programs are the better way to go to get results. It is too risky to advertise the normal and traditional way such as through radio or T.V. The online merchants will be putting their finances in risk because of the possibility that advertising will not be an effective way to receive customers. With affiliate programs, you do not have to give up any money until you see actual results benefiting you and bringing more traffic flow to your website.
